Testimonials

I was so confused by all the conflicting health information out there. Susan has helped me find a path through it and I feel terrific, despite getting on a bit! Her advice is simple, practical and do-able. I’ve found it really easy to make my life ‘Age Well’.

Helen, Sydney

The talk was so interesting and Susan’s simple way of explaining things was really helpful as I won’t forget the facts! We do practise a lot of the things she mentioned but I will certainly make more changes now. I’ve started reading her book as well. All fascinating.

In in this super-informal Zoom webinar, I share six simple actions for better brain health – based on the latest research into dementia prevention. Understanding the research helps me prioritise my own cognitive health and focus on putting my brain first. There are lots of coaching tips to help you put the science into practice in your own life. Which one are you going to focus on? Drop me an email and let me know!

My coaching clients come to me because they want t My coaching clients come to me because they want to be there for their grandchildren, or their children or their partner. They come to me because they have a family history of dementia (as I do). They come to me because they’ve noticed their memory slipping and they want to be as sharp as possible for as long as possible.

Whatever the reason they’ve joined my one-to-one coaching programme, Better Brain Framework, three things happen:

1. My clients build a life that reduces their dementia risk. They embed science-backed habits into their lives: taking care of their brain becomes part of their identity.
2. This means the worry, that nagging fear of dementia, reduces because they know they’re doing the right thing to preserve their cognition.
3. And they start to feel sharper right now - memory improves, brain fog diminishes and they don’t feel they’re ‘dropping all the balls’.

I’m taking on new clients for Better Brain Framework. It’s been a while since I’ve had availability, but I’m now able to re-open my calendar.

If you want to know more about the programme, and how it could work for you, comment the word ‘framework’ below and I’ll send you details. Or send me a quick DM and l’ll tell you more.

“How can I protect my own brain health?” A for “How can I protect my own brain health?” A former colleague messaged me yesterday to say that that his dad’s been diagnosed with dementia. As well as processing the practical and emotional impact of that news, my pal was also thinking about his own health.

He had questions for me:

1 - “My wife’s nagging me to go to the dental hygienist - why is that important?”
My answer: there’s a close correlation between gum disease and increased dementia risk. The bacteria associated with gum disease migrates across the blood brain barrier, and pumps out inflammation.

2 - “I read something about hearing loss and dementia risk - what’s that about?”
My answer: uncorrected hearing loss in midlife is a bigger risk for cognitive decline than smoking (this blew my chum’s mind!). Get your hearing checked and if there’s an issue, don’t shy away from hearing aids. They could save your brain.

3 - “I’ve put on weight recently - should I worry about that?”
My answer: Having overweight or obesity is linked to increased risk of dementia, as is high blood glucose. Good metabolic health correlates with good brain health.

4 and 5 - “What else should I monitor?”
My answer: what’s good for the heart is good for brain so making sure your blood pressure and cholesterol are in the normal range will make a huge difference to your dementia risk. High levels of both these have been linked to cognitive decline.

Let me know which one of these resonated with you most - what do you need to get checked? And save this for when you need a reminder

My health coaching client came to me because she w My health coaching client came to me because she was starting to have memory slips. Nothing major, but she has a family history of dementia so these slip ups were starting to trouble her. And as a high-flyer in the world of finance, she didn’t want to be making mistakes in front of her large team.

As we worked towards reducing her dementia risk long term, she noticed the memory slips were reducing - she could remember ‘the name of that actor in that thing’ - and her brain wasn’t running on empty any more.

And that’s the beauty of building a life that supports brain health at any age - you feel sharper right now. So whether it’s the ‘fog’ of perimenopause, stress-related memory slips or other cognitive worries, let me tell you this: a simple plan that helps you nurture your brain will help.

If you’re not sure where to start, I have a straightforward system that integrates the latest scientific research with consistent habits.

Comment ‘tips’ to get a plan that will help you take care of your brain every day, and follow me here - let’s do this together.

We all have those days when life gets in the way o We all have those days when life gets in the way of a healthy meal (this is me sprinting from the station after a meeting went on wayyyyy too long). But as I dashed home, I knew I’d be able to pull together a quick dinner, without compromising on brain-boosting ingredients.

When I first started working to reduce my dementia risk, I realised I needed a simple plan to feed myself and my family. It took me years (and four coaching qualifications) to nail down a system that I could rinse and repeat for all my meals, based on the latest research into cognitive health.

I’ve condensed it into a simple, three-part course that gives you my exact structure for creating foolproof meals to feed your brain day in and day out, no matter how rushed you are.

Discover the science of eating to reduce dementia risk, and how to implement it in your own life - and kitchen - starting now. And embrace the mindset you need to put your brain first, so choosing foods that nourish becomes easy.
